Everything the X16 does, plus a cinema-sized 24″ touchscreen. If you’re spending £3,000+ on an incline trainer, the extra £500 for the screen upgrade is worth serious consideration.

NordicTrack X24 Review: The X16 With a Cinema Screen
The X24 is mechanically identical to the X16. Same 4.25 CHP motor, same -6% to 40% incline range, same 55 × 152 cm deck, same 12.5 mph top speed. The single difference is the screen: 24 inches instead of 16.
That means the X16 vs X24 decision is purely about how much you value screen immersion. If you’re going to use iFIT’s mountain hiking routes daily, the 24″ display makes those virtual trails feel genuinely cinematic. If the screen is secondary to the workout, save £500 with the X16.
Why the screen matters on an incline trainer
Incline training sessions tend to be slower and longer than running workouts. You’re walking at 2-4 mph on a steep gradient, which means you have time to actually watch the screen. On a standard treadmill at 8+ mph, you barely glance at the display. On an incline trainer, the screen becomes your primary entertainment and motivation. At 24 inches, iFIT’s filmed routes through the Alps, Andes, and Scottish Highlands become the centrepiece of the workout rather than a background feature.
Everything else to know
Like the X16, the X24 does not fold. It’s a permanent fixture in your gym space. The 4.25 CHP motor handles the extreme incline angles smoothly, and the -6% decline adds downhill training for variety. Build quality is substantial. Assembly is a two-person job.
At £3,499, the X24 is more expensive than the Commercial 2450 (£2,499), which is the better choice if you primarily want to run. The X24 exists for incline walking enthusiasts who want the absolute best screen for their iFIT experience.
The 24″ screen in daily use
At 24 inches, the display is the same size as the Commercial 2450‘s screen, but the context is completely different. On the 2450, you’re running at speed and barely glance at the screen. On the X24, you’re walking at 2-4 mph on a steep incline, with plenty of time to be fully immersed in the virtual trail. The screen becomes the centrepiece of every workout.
For off-treadmill iFIT classes (yoga, stretching, strength), the 24″ screen is excellent. It pivots to face the room, giving you a large, clear display for following trainer cues and form guidance.
Build quality and permanent installation
Like the X16, the X24 does not fold. The incline mechanism adds significant weight and structural complexity. You need a permanent space of roughly 200 × 100 cm plus clearance behind the machine for extreme incline angles. Ceiling height of at least 250 cm is essential for comfortable use at 40% gradient.
The build quality is industrial. The 4.25 CHP motor handles gradient transitions smoothly at any incline level. The machine weighs over 200 kg assembled and requires professional delivery. Once it’s in position, it’s staying there.
Assembly and delivery
Professional installation is strongly recommended for the X24. The machine is too heavy and complex for casual DIY assembly. NordicTrack offers white-glove delivery and installation when buying direct. Allow the delivery team to position it in its permanent location since moving it afterwards is extremely difficult.
X24 vs X16: the honest comparison
Mechanically identical. Same motor, same incline range, same deck, same speed. The only difference is 24″ screen vs 16″ screen for £500 more. If you’re spending £3,000+ on an incline trainer, you’re already committed to the concept. The extra £500 for a screen that’s 50% larger will pay for itself in daily enjoyment over years of use. If you’re unsure about incline training in general, start with the X16 and save the £500.
What we like
- 24″ HD touchscreen makes iFIT hiking routes genuinely cinematic
- 40% incline and -6% decline (same as X16)
- 4.25 CHP motor for smooth gradient changes
- Ideal for longer, slower incline sessions where the screen is primary
- 0% finance via Klarna
What could be better
- £500 more than the X16 for a screen upgrade only
- Does not fold
- More expensive than the Commercial 2450 which is a better runner
- Niche product for incline walkers, not traditional runners
Our verdict
If you’ve decided on a NordicTrack incline trainer, the X24’s 24″ screen adds genuine value for the type of slower, longer workouts these machines are designed for. The extra £500 over the X16 is justified if you’ll use iFIT daily. If the screen is secondary, the X16 delivers the same workout at £2,999.
