Treadmill Review
The Echelon Stride 9s Pro is the flagship of the range and the only Stride with a commercial warranty: a 4.0 CHP AC motor, a 15.5 mph top speed and 15 levels of incline on an extra-long quad-cushioned deck. At £2,499 it is the most treadmill Echelon makes. This review covers the commercial-grade motor, the running feel at speed, the membership cost in proportion to the price, and whether you actually need this much machine.

Who the Stride 9s Pro is for
This is the Echelon for fast runners and anyone who wants a machine that will shrug off years of daily use. The key spec is the 4.0 CHP AC motor: a continuous, commercial-style rating built to run hard for long sessions, and crucially it is the only Stride backed by a warranty rated for both home and commercial use. Add a 15.5 mph (25 km/h) top speed, the fastest in the range, and 15 levels of incline, and it covers training that the rest of the line simply cannot.
It is aimed at the buyer who runs seriously, wants commercial durability in a home, or is kitting out a studio or small facility where a home-use warranty would not cut it. If you do not run fast or train hard, it is more treadmill than you need, and the Stride 50 RCX delivers most of the everyday experience for a third of the price. The Stride 8s sits just below for £500 less if you want a studio-style machine without the commercial motor or the top speed.
Motor and running feel
The 4.0 CHP AC motor is what sets the 9s Pro apart. AC motors are the type you find in commercial gym treadmills: they run cooler and are built to sustain hard use over long periods, which is exactly why this is the only Stride Echelon will cover for commercial use. In practice it means the belt holds pace effortlessly even at the top of the speed range and during long, fast sessions, with headroom the rest of the line does not have.
That 15.5 mph top speed is genuinely the fastest in the range and enough for proper speed-interval training, the one area where the cheaper Strides run out of room. There are 15 selectable speed levels and Quick-Speed keys for fast changes mid-session, with soft cushioned handlebars and assist handlebars behind the screen.
Deck, cushioning and incline
The running surface is an extra-long 56 by 155 cm (22 by 61 inches), the largest in the range, on a DuroFlex six-cushion system that stays comfortable over distance and gives even tall runners room for a full, fast stride. For serious mileage this is the most accommodating deck Echelon makes.
Incline runs to the full 15 powered levels, matching the RCX models and beating the 8s, so the 9s Pro is the only Echelon that pairs the biggest motor and fastest speed with the most incline. For hill repeats and gradient-based sessions at pace, that combination is the point.
Screen, connectivity and safety
The console is built around a 22-inch Class 1200p HD touchscreen with internet connectivity, the sharpest panel in the range, for Echelon Fit’s live and on-demand classes, scenic runs and tracking. Bluetooth handles audio and heart rate straps, there are dual 3-watt speakers built in, and a pull-out safety lanyard is included, which is exactly what you want on a machine that will be used at speed.
Console feedback covers speed, time, incline, pulse, distance, calories, power and pace, a fuller readout than the cheaper Strides, in keeping with its serious-runner brief.
The real cost of membership
Like every Echelon, the 9s Pro is built around the Echelon Fit subscription. Echelon Premier costs £29.99 a month or £299.90 a year (around £25 a month) in the UK, and a 45-day free trial is included with the machine. Membership is not required to run: you can set speed and incline manually and use the onboard programmes without paying a penny. There is also a useful warranty wrinkle, members who keep a continuous Premier subscription from the date of purchase get an extra four years of cover on top of the standard one year, so five years in total.
In proportion to a £2,499 purchase the membership is the smallest relative add-on in the range, and the buyer profile here, someone investing in a commercial-grade machine, is the most likely to keep subscribing and so benefit from the five-year warranty that comes with continuous membership. It remains a real recurring cost, but on this model it is the least likely to change the buying decision.
Build, footprint and warranty
The 9s Pro is the heaviest and most permanent Stride at 164 kg, with an in-use footprint of about 212 by 90 cm. It does not fold, so it needs a dedicated space, and getting it into position is firmly a two-person job. That mass is the flip side of its stability: it feels rock-solid at speed in a way folding machines cannot match.
The standout is the warranty. Alone in the range it is rated for home and commercial use, one year as standard and five years with a continuous Premier membership, which is the clearest signal of how Echelon positions this machine relative to its siblings.
Assembly and getting started
Given the weight and the non-folding frame, assembly and positioning are the most involved in the range and genuinely a two-person task, so clear the space and decide where it will live before you start. Once built, it is staying there.
The 45-day Premier trial is activated through Echelon with your proof of purchase. At this level most buyers will want the full connected experience, but the treadmill runs manually if you prefer, with the fullest onboard metrics readout of any Stride.
How it compares
At £2,499 the 9s Pro lands squarely against the commercial home flagships. The NordicTrack Commercial 2450 is the obvious rival at a similar price with a huge pivoting screen and iFIT, the Reebok Z-Tech AC brings another true commercial AC motor for less, and the British-made JTX Sprint 9 Pro is a serious runner’s choice without the subscription. The Peloton Tread is the benchmark if guided classes are your priority.
Within Echelon, the only real internal rival is the 8s at £500 less, which gives up the AC motor, the top speed, the extra incline and the commercial warranty. Our best home treadmill and treadmills with incline guides set the field out in full.
Who should skip it
Skip the 9s Pro if you do not run fast and do not need commercial durability, which is most home buyers, in which case you are paying for headroom you will never use and the RCX or 8s will serve you better for less. Skip it too if you need to fold the machine away, because it does not fold at all, or if 164 kg of fixed treadmill simply will not fit your space.
But if you want the fastest, strongest, most durable Echelon, and a warranty that backs commercial use, this is the one machine in the range that delivers it.
Our overall RunRank is a weighted view across the four pillars, not a flat average. It tops the range for performance with a 4.0 CHP AC motor, the fastest 15.5 mph top speed and a home-and-commercial warranty, with build and features close behind; the premium price is the only thing that holds the value pillar back. How RunRank works.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Echelon Stride 9s Pro worth it?
If you run fast, run far, or want commercial-grade durability with a warranty rated for commercial use, yes, it is the only Echelon that covers that. For everyday walking and steady running, the Stride 50 RCX delivers most of the experience for far less.
How fast does it go?
Up to 15.5 mph (25 km/h), the fastest in the Echelon range, with 15 selectable speed levels and 15 levels of incline for hill and interval work.
What does the AC motor mean in practice?
AC motors are the type used in commercial gym treadmills. They run cooler and sustain hard use better than the DC motors in the cheaper Strides, which is why the 9s Pro is the only model Echelon will cover for commercial use.
How much is the membership?
Echelon Premier is £29.99 a month or £299.90 a year, with a 45-day free trial. In proportion to the £2,499 price it is the smallest relative add-on in the range, though it is still a recurring cost.
Does it fold?
No. It is a fixed-frame commercial-grade machine and, at 164 kg, needs a permanent space and a two-person install.
What is the maximum user weight?
The Stride 9s Pro supports users up to 136 kg (300 lb), the same as the 6s and 8s.
How is the warranty different from the rest of the range?
It is the only Stride rated for both home and commercial use. Like the others it is one year as standard, extended to five years with a continuous Premier membership.
The verdict
The Stride 9s Pro is the Echelon to buy when nothing less will do: a commercial-grade 4.0 CHP AC motor, the fastest top speed in the range, the longest deck, the full 15 incline levels and the only home-and-commercial warranty in the line-up, wrapped around the sharpest 22-inch screen Echelon makes. It is expensive, heavy and does not fold, so it is genuine overkill for casual users. But for fast runners, or anyone who wants a machine built to last through years of hard use and backed for commercial duty, it is a flagship that earns the name.
